Well all seems well in your Cluckdom. Your girlz are laying beautifully.
What breed type of chickens are your girlz? And do they all the same size eggs?
Hi Tricia. Avigal and Ilana are Buff Orpingtons and Shoshanah and Peninah are Black Australorps.
I don't know what size the eggs will end up being because they are small to start. I've read articles that say they should be large to x-tra large. Often eggs in the beginning are misshapen - long and skinny, fragile shells, etc. So I've been quite proud of myself that they are normally shaped and nice and hard - it means the chickens are getting enough nutrients - especially calcium.
I have lots of books on chickens I think the prettiest chicken is the Brahma. tan with black tipped feathers around the neck and the tail. they are said to be good winter layers. My niece has chickens that lay green and blue eggs but not sure what they are.
Those are Easter Eggers, Tricia. They're the ones that lay the blue and green eggs.
and Auracanas.
Auracanas thats them. She has several different kinds. Her chickens turned into cluckdom bullies and she had to put peepers on them. I would have FRIED them bullies LOL well I would think about frying them anyway.
